DEIF from Denmark offer a wide range of genset control panels (generator controller). Intellicom has been involved in remote monitoring projects where DEIF products have been used together with Netbiter solutions.
The Netbiter solution in this case provides a completely web based interface for remote monitoring and control of run-time data in the gen-set. In parallel it can provide detailed alarm information and data log files that present nice graphical trends of the behaviour of the generator.
As a result, service operational costs can be cut for example by managing remote starts and stops of the generator at scheduled service runs.
In the project our customer are reducing emergency visits, minimizing downtime, increasing efficiency and optimizing the service operations of their generators. Cost can be saved immediately.
The DEIF control panel provides a Modbus RTU (serial) interface. The
Netbiter webSCADA (WS200) unit supports Modbus based products (both serial and Ethernet). The Modbus interface at the Netbiter communicates with the DEIF control panels by reading and writing selected data. The Netbiter product makes the data available in an internal web server in the Netbiter unit that can be accessed by the user using a standard web browser, like Internet explorer on the users PC. This makes it possible for the user to instantly read any parameter available in the DEIF product from a remote location. It is also possible to write data to the DEIF controller, for example to perform a remote start of the genset.
For the DEIF control panel used in this project there is a Device Template (can be seen as a configuration file for device used) available that has the Modbus parameters from the DEIF panel already prepared. The Device template makes configuration very simple. Just set the Modbus address of the DEIF genset controller and you will immediately be able to show values, write to registers, trig alarms and log parameters. You don’t have to know the actual register address, just select from a drop down box the parameter that shall be used.

The alarm manager is built into the Netbiter webSCADA and provides the user with detailed alarm information from the DEIF control panel. It supports both email and SMS that can be run simultaneously. The configuration of the alarm information (when and why and to whom) is also done from the web interface.
The solution also log some parameters in an internal memory in the Netbiter from the DEIF controller. This is used to be able to monitor trend graphs on the web pages.
The Netbiter.net is a secure online management portal that collects and stores information from remote devices in the field. A smart technology invention makes it possible to do installations over Internet and GPRS easy and fast without being an IT-expert. It also provides extended functions like monitoring, control, trending and alarm management. Netbiter.net is completely web based and becomes one central place for easy visualization and management of your equipment.
The benefits in this installation using Netbiter.net are;
- Wireless connectivity with GPRS using any standard SIM card (no expensive “M2M SIM cards needed).
- Possibility to store alarm history and log files for a longer period of time (compare to smaller memory in the Netbiter remote unit itself).
- Management of installation (users, projects, devices (DEIF control panels), automated backups, storing documentations etc).
